Mother's Day: history, date and ideas for a lovely day
Once a year we say thank you: Mother's Day is a day to honour mothers. When it falls differs from country to country.
Mother's Day in Germany and Italy
In Germany Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May. The custom took hold in the 1920s, when florists promoted the day. In Italy (“Festa della Mamma”) it also falls on the second Sunday in May.
8 March
In many countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Balkans, people celebrate around 8 March, International Women’s Day. There it is also an occasion to thank mothers, grandmothers and women in general, often with flowers.
Ideas for the day
Flowers, a letter, a walk together or a meal with no cooking or washing-up: many families go out to eat on Mother’s Day. If you want a table, book in good time, because Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days in hospitality.
Mother's Day at L'Antica
Around Mother's Day, the design of our website puts on a festive look. At L'Antica Pizzeria Napoletana in Stuttgart you can enjoy Neapolitan pizza and fresh pasta. Want to drop by? Reserve a table or view the menu first.
